Card fee, debit fee, and who rang up the sale

Card and Debit are separate buttons. Each fee stays at 0 until you type a percent. Checkout records the person already signed in unless you require a PIN on each sale.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1 Open the checkout fee fields

In the left sidebar, open Shop setup → Point of Sale Config. On that page, open Checkout and receipts. You can also use Go to (Ctrl or Command, then K) and type card fee or debit fee. Those jumps land on the fields.
  2. 2 Card fee is only for Card

Card fee (%) is only for the Card button. It is the same percent as Display Screen Setup, Added Credit Card Fee. If you type 1.65 here, the price screen stores 0.0165. If you change the number in either place, the other one updates. Cash, check, Zelle, and Debit are not charged this percent. The highest you can enter is 10. Zero means Card has no fee line.
  3. 3 Debit fee is only for Debit

    Debit fee (%)
  4. 4 Read the total before you run the card

SpotPro does not charge the card. You still run Card or Debit on your own terminal, and you charge the total on the screen. On a $100 taxable sale whose goods and tax come to $108, a debit fee of 1.65 percent adds $1.78. The debit total is $109.78, and the receipt prints Debit fee (1.65%). At 0 percent, that same sale stays $108 and does not print a debit fee line. The Card button uses only the card percent.
  5. 5 Checkout already records who is signed in

You do not have to turn a fee on, and you do not have to turn a PIN on, for the register to record the person already signed in. The name on the screen is that person. Use Go to and type staff PIN on each sale to open the switch.
  6. 6 Turn on a PIN for each sale only if you want one

Require a staff PIN on each sale is under Security and staff access on the same Point of Sale Config page. It stays off until you turn it on. Leave it off and checkout does not ask for a PIN on the sale. Turn it on and each sale asks for that person’s 4-digit PIN. Opening the register is a different switch, Require staff PIN to open. Voids are a different switch. NumisNexus buys are not changed by the per-sale switch. Buys still ask for a PIN at the end when you have staff and nobody is signed in on NumisNexus.
  7. 7 Served by needs a matching staff name or a PIN

The receipt line Served by, and the staff reports, use a staff row when the signed-in name matches exactly one active person on Staff and Access, or when that person enters their PIN on the sale. If the signed-in name does not match exactly one staff row, the screen can still show the name while Served by stays Unassigned. SpotPro does not create a staff row for you. Add the roster on Shop setup → Staff and Access when you want the receipt and the staff report to name that person.
