POS Configuration

Tax Settings

Configure sales tax rates for your state and locality so every receipt calculates correctly.

Open POS Configuration → Opens your members area in a new tab

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1 Open POS Config

In the left sidebar, click Configuration → Point of Sale Config. Wait for the page to fully load.
  2. 2 Scroll to Tax Settings

Scroll down until you see the heading Tax Settings. You will see a tax rate field and options for how tax is applied to prices.
  3. 3 Enter your combined tax rate

In the box labeled for tax percentage, type your combined state and local sales tax rate. For 8.25%, type 8.25 — do not include the percent sign. Use the rate your accountant or state revenue website provides.
  4. 4 Choose tax-exclusive or tax-inclusive

Most coin shops select tax added at checkout (exclusive) — your shelf tags show pre-tax prices and tax appears as a separate line on the receipt. If your tagged prices already include tax, select inclusive instead.
  5. 5 Check exempt categories (if shown)

Some states exempt bullion or certain numismatic items. If your POS Config shows category exemptions, turn on only the categories your tax advisor confirmed. When unsure, leave exemptions off and consult your accountant.
  6. 6 Click Save

Scroll to the bottom of the Tax Settings section. Click Save. You will see a green confirmation message when the rate is stored.
  7. 7 Verify with a test sale

Open Apps → Sales Checkout. Add a $100 item to the cart. You will see a tax line below the subtotal — confirm the amount matches your rate (8.25% on $100 = $8.25 tax). Void or complete the test sale as you prefer.

  8. 8 Verify on a buy receipt too

If your state taxes purchases from customers, open Apps → NumisNexus, add a test line, and finalize. Check that the receipt tax matches your setting. Most shops do not tax shop buys — confirm with your advisor.
