Step-by-step instructions

1. 1 What this is (and is not)

   Not just identification. SpotPro builds the inventory record for you. Photograph it. Identify it. Price it. Describe it. Crop it. Add it to inventory. Use AI reads a coin or a United States note (raw, slab, set, or bullion) from photos or from typing a name. Then it prices with your shop buy and sell — junk silver pay, bullion spot-plus, collectible premiums, Greysheet when keys are connected — and sold comps: what that type actually sold for at Lyn Knight, Stack’s, Heritage, and on eBay. Greysheet is the dealer guide; sold comps is what people paid. A collector ID app stops at a name plus a generic number. Raw is the daily path: front and back. A 2x2 flip is not a slab. If it is in a holder, add a label shot. On a PCGS slab, the cert number is checked with PCGS so a missing number or a different coin on that cert is flagged. Photos stay so you can add the piece to inventory or send it to NumisNexus without shooting it twice.

2. 2 Two jobs, same vision

   Add to inventory (members app Add to inventory): two photos, check the ID, tap Add to inventory — usually in less than a minute. Description and cropped listing photos are included. Look up (members app Look up, or Apps → Coin lookup → Use AI): identify, show shop prices, write an offer, then optionally send to NumisNexus. The PCGS cert check shows on both jobs. Lookup photos stay about 7 days for later stocking.

3. 3 Open Coin lookup on the computer

   In the left sidebar, click Apps → Coin lookup (Greysheet Lookup). Click Use AI. A QR appears. Scan it with your phone, or tap Open on this phone if you are already on a phone. Feature Search (Ctrl+K) → type use ai, scan coin, or coinsnap.

   

4. 4 Photograph front and back (raw coins)

   On the phone, tap Front (obverse), then Back (reverse). That is enough for a raw coin in the hand or in a 2x2 — the camera reads the metal and gives a conservative wear grade. If it is in a PCGS/NGC holder, add a label shot so cert and printed grade copy from the holder. You can also type a name (for example 1921 Peace) and pick from the same Greysheet catalog as the computer — photos are optional when you already know the piece.

   

5. 5 Read shop numbers — not a generic guide

   After identify, the card shows Bluebook, Grey Sheet bid, CPG retail when Greysheet can price it, plus Our buy and Our sell from your POS presets, master premiums, junk silver pay, and bullion spot-plus — and sold comps when we have that coin or note (auction houses and eBay). Common circulated 90% can prefer junk melt pay over a collectible Greysheet bid. Wheat cents can use your bulk bucket. Grade steps one click at a time (MS65 vs MS66 is different money). ID still works without Greysheet keys; live guide numbers need the 50 complimentary lookups or your own Dealer+ / Pro keys in POS Config.

   

6. 6 What “smart” means here

   The camera reads the metal, not the lighting. Slab labels (PCGS/NGC cert, grade, designations like FB / DCAM) are copied from the holder. On a PCGS slab, SpotPro also checks the cert number with PCGS. If that number is not in their files, or PCGS has a different coin on that cert, Coin lookup and Use AI (add to inventory) both say so. A fake holder that copies a real cert for the same type of coin can still pass a number check. Raw coins get a conservative wear grade. Boxed proof/mint sets are treated as sets, not a single circulated coin. Private rounds and bars stay generic bullion — they are not named as Morgans just because the art looks similar. Gold Eagles use the face value size (G$50 / G$25 / G$10 / G$5). Indian Head gold is not a Saint-Gaudens $20. Better-date / key-date flags ask you to review carefully. If weight matters, the phone can show a weigh-it-before-you-pay check.

7. 7 Offer, NumisNexus, or inventory

   Your offer starts at Our buy. Tap NumisNexus to put the piece on a buy ticket, or stock it — Save to inventory on the phone, Keep for inventory on the computer. The record has title, grade, type, prices, cert, sales description, and listing photos cropped onto a white background (desk gone). On a slab the coin is also cropped out of the holder — often four listing images from two shots. Gold or silver bullion is typed as metal so the asking price follows live gold or silver. AI does not auto-stock.

8. 8 Add to inventory with Use AI

   Open the members app → Add to inventory. Two photos. Check the ID, qty, cost, and sell. Tap Add to inventory. Title, grade, cert, type, prices, and the sales description are already there. Two photos become cropped listing photos; slabs often add coin-from-holder crops. Gold and silver follow live metal. The whole job is usually less than a minute. You are still the one who stocks it — AI does not auto-save. The computer New Inventory Item form is still there if you want extra fields.

   

9. 9 Phone home

   On a phone, open /members/app. Look up is values and offer. Add to inventory is the stocking camera. Same shop login; keep “Keep me signed in” on so the phone stays ready at the counter.
